Why Your Skin Is Dry (It’s Not Just the Weather!).

If you blame the cold air or dry heat for your flaky, tight skin, you’re only half right. While weather plays a role, there are plenty of hidden reasons why your skin might feel like sandpaper—even when it’s not winter.

Dehydration from the Inside Out – If you’re not drinking enough water, your skin will show it. Dehydration reduces your skin’s ability to retain moisture, making it look dull and flaky.

Too Much Hot Water – Long, steamy showers feel amazing, but they strip away natural oils that keep your skin soft. Opt for lukewarm water instead.

Harsh Soaps & Over-Cleansing – Many cleansers contain sulfates and alcohol, which can strip away moisture. Switch to a gentle, hydrating cleanser.

Caffeine & Alcohol Overload – Both act as diuretics, pulling water from your body and leaving your skin dry and lackluster. Balance them with plenty of water.

Nutrient Deficiencies – A lack of healthy fats, vitamin E, and omega-3s can weaken your skin’s barrier, leading to dryness. Foods like avocados, nuts, and salmon help keep skin hydrated.

Hidden Allergies or Sensitivities – Some skincare products contain fragrances, dyes, or preservatives that can irritate your skin and disrupt moisture levels.

Moisturize Immediately After Showering to lock in hydration. Use a Humidifier to add moisture to indoor air. Eat More Healthy Fats like nuts, seeds, and olive oil.
