Scrapple on the Grill: How to Take This Classic Dish to the Next Level

Scrapple, traditionally served as a breakfast item, is often pan-fried for a crispy exterior and soft interior. But why stop there?

Grilling scrapple adds a new layer of flavor and texture that elevates this classic dish. Grilling not only gives scrapple a smoky depth but also creates a satisfying crunch on the outside while keeping its savory core tender.

To get started, preheat your grill to medium heat. Slice the scrapple into thicker pieces—about 1/2 inch to 1 inch thick—so that it holds up well on the grill.

Lightly oil the grill grates or brush the scrapple slices with a bit of olive oil to prevent sticking.

Place the slices on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, turning until golden brown and crispy.

For an extra flavor boost, try marinating your scrapple before grilling. A simple mixture of maple syrup, Dijon mustard, and a touch of apple cider vinegar will add sweetness and tang, complementing the savory pork base.

Pair your grilled scrapple with a fried egg, sautéed greens, or even a tangy hot sauce for an unforgettable breakfast or brunch experience.

Grilling scrapple gives it a whole new dimension, making it not just a side dish but a showstopper for your next meal!
