Mavericks Survive Pelicans’ Challenge as Washington Stars in 137-136 Thriller.

In a pulse-pounding showdown on January 29, 2025, the Dallas Mavericks emerged victorious with a 137-136 win over the New Orleans Pelicans, surviving a fierce challenge in a game that kept fans on the edge of their seats.  

P.J. Washington was the hero for the Mavericks, delivering an all-around performance with 25 points, 14 rebounds, and 8 assists, proving to be the difference-maker in this nail-biting thriller. 

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams exchanging leads throughout the contest. Washington played a pivotal role in the final moments.

Hitting crucial shots and providing vital rebounds to help the Mavericks hold off the Pelicans’ relentless push. His ability to step up in clutch situations was instrumental as Dallas navigated through tense moments. 

In addition to Washington’s stellar performance, Kyrie Irving contributed 25 points, while Klay Thompson added 20 points.  

Together, they helped keep the Mavericks’ offense firing, with Thompson’s three-point shooting and Irving’s ability to create plays keeping Dallas competitive against the high-scoring Pelicans. 

New Orleans, led by Trey Murphy III with 32 points and Zion Williamson’s 29 points, gave the Mavericks all they could handle.  

The Pelicans were in striking distance right until the final buzzer, with their dynamic duo nearly pulling off a late-game comeback. However, despite their best efforts, they fell just short, marking their fourth consecutive loss.
