Cage-Free Fun: How to Safely Let Your Parakeet Fly Indoors.

Parakeets are naturally active and curious birds that thrive when given the freedom to stretch their wings.

Allowing your parakeet to fly indoors provides essential exercise, mental stimulation, and a stronger bond between you and your feathered friend. However, safety should always be the top priority.

Prepare a Safe Environment Before letting your parakeet out, ensure the room is bird-proof. Close all windows and doors, turn off ceiling fans, and cover any mirrors or glass surfaces to prevent collisions.

Remove toxic plants, open water containers, and other potential hazards that could harm your bird.

Train Your Parakeet for Recall Training your parakeet to return to you on command is crucial. Start by using a treat or their favorite millet to encourage them to land on your hand.

Repetition and positive reinforcement will help them associate flying back to you with rewards.

Supervise Every Flight Session Never leave your parakeet unsupervised when flying outside its cage. Keep an eye on their movements, ensuring they don't land in dangerous spots or get stuck in tight spaces.

Provide a Landing Area Set up perches or play gyms in safe areas so your bird has a designated place to land. Over time, your parakeet will learn where it is safe to fly and perch.
