30 Days on the Keto Diet: Did I Really Feel More Energetic?

Curious about the hype surrounding the keto diet, I decided to commit to 30 days of cutting carbs and embracing high-fat, low-carb meals.

The promise of sustained energy without the usual afternoon slumps sounded too good to pass up. But did the keto diet actually deliver on that promise? Here’s how my energy levels played out over the course of the month.

At first, my energy was all over the place. The first few days were rough—I had a constant feeling of fatigue, dizziness, and headaches, which is commonly known as the "keto flu."

My body was adjusting to using fat for fuel instead of carbs, and that transition wasn’t easy. I found myself wanting to nap more often and had a hard time staying focused.

By week two, things started to improve. The initial fatigue faded, and I began feeling more energized throughout the day. No more post-lunch crashes—I didn’t experience the typical afternoon slump that I used to get when eating carbs.

My energy felt more stable, and I no longer had to rely on coffee to power through the day. While I wasn’t bouncing off the walls with boundless energy, I did feel a noticeable shift toward a more consistent level of alertness.

In the third week, I started noticing the real benefits. My focus was sharper, and my energy remained steady all day long. I no longer needed a nap or a caffeine boost to get through the day. I also felt less bloated and more light on my feet.

The keto diet had helped eliminate those energy crashes that had once plagued me, and I was feeling more productive both at work and in my personal life.
