1914 Buffalo Nickel : A Collector’s Guide.

The 1914 Buffalo Nickel is a key date in the beloved Indian Head (Buffalo) Nickel series, designed by James Earle Fraser

Obverse: Features a Native American profile (composite of three chiefs: Two Moons, Big Tree, and Iron Tail), with the date and “LIBERTY” inscribed.

Weak Date: Due to early die wear, many 1914 Buffalo Nickels have weak or nearly missing dates.

Because of its high value in uncirculated grades, authentication is recommended.

Third-party grading by PCGS, NGC, or ANACS ensures authenticity and boosts marketability.

Collectors focus on full date, well-struck examples due to the common issue of wear.

Higher-grade specimens, especially “S” and “D” mint marks, hold strong investment value.

The 1914 Buffalo Nickel is an important early issue in the series, with the 1914-D and 1914-S versions commanding premium prices.
